A snowmobiler dies in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts

A snowmobiler died Saturday morning in the Saint-Alexis-des-Monts sector in Mauricie after going off the trail and hitting trees.

According to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the 62-year-old man was on trail 350, near the Lacombe estate, when he came off the trail and hit trees.

The police were called to the scene around 10:15 am The snowmobiler, originally from Blainville, was transported to the Louiseville hospital center where he was pronounced dead.

The authorities do not rule out the possibility that the victim had some discomfort before the collision. He was accompanied by another snowmobiler who was in front of him on the trail during the accident.

A collision investigation specialist will attend the scene to attempt to determine the exact circumstances of the runway excursion.
