Camping Reservations For Alberta’s National Parks Now Open

Outdoor enthusiasts wishing to camp in an Alberta national park this summer can reserve their spot this week. Jasper National Park has opened its camping reservations Tuesday morning, while the others will follow in the next few days.

Parks Canada is now accepting reservations for Jasper National Park. Those interested would do well to hurry, as 780 sites will be closed this year to allow for the renovation of Whistler, the park’s largest park .

Reservations at Banff National Park can be made from 8 am Wednesday morning. Waterton Lakes, Wood Buffalo, Elk Island and Rocky Mountain House National Parks will open at the same time the next day. Last year, these parks had a tremendous amount of traffic , not least because their access was free on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.

To reserve:

However, it will take another two weeks to book backcountry sites. These bookings will begin Jan. 23 for Jasper Park and Jan. 24 for Banff, Yoho and Kootenay Parks.

As for campground reservations in provincial parks, they will begin on February 19.
